A Christmas Story House & Museum Goes On The Market

The 19th-century Victorian house at 3159 W. 11th Street in Cleveland, Ohio, best known as the house from the 1983 film “A Christmas Story,” is up for sale. The current owner, 47-year-old Brian Jones, has been a fan of the film all his life, and after receiving a replica leg lamp from his parents, realized there could be a market for them. He opened a business selling the lamps — a ladys leg in a fishnet stocking with a lampshade skirt. In 2004, Jones bought the house Ralphie Parker grew up in for $150,000, and opened it to the public as a museum. Over the years he added to the property, including the house next door, which in the film belonged to Ralphies neighbors, the Bumpuses. The property for sale includes 1.3 acres across seven parcels with the museum, a gift shop, the neighbors house, a rental property and parking lots. The museum has hundreds of items of memorabilia including props and costumes. No asking price was included in the listing. The museum is a popular tourist destination in Cleveland, and according to its website, more than a million people have toured it since its opening. A sequel, “A Christmas Story Christmas,” premieres Nov. 17 on HBO Max, and Peter Billingsley is reprising his role as Ralphie, all grown up.
